Field Supervisor
Crew Leaders are also responsible for organizing, training, and supervising the work crews who perform the deconstruction, janitorial, property maintenance, appliance recycling and sales services. The Crew Leaders evaluate the performance of workers daily.
The key expectations are safety, efficient deployment of workers, and completing a job within scope and budget, and on time. This position requires a high level of flexibility, including evening, weekend, and on-call responsibilities.
Key roles and activities assigned to the Crew Leader include:
▪ Actively participate in the orientation, training and evaluation of workers
▪ Organize and supervise work crews (crew work will include deconstruction, and may occasionally include waste recycling, and grounds keeping/light landscaping, and janitorial services)
▪ Guide, coach and motivate participants
▪ Maintain exceptional relations with customers and meet a customer’s performance expectations
▪ Maintain high standards and assure the mission and values of Better Futures are met consistently
▪ Assist with preparing budgets and bids for new work
▪ Maintain equipment and tools needed to complete assignments
▪ Gather and maintain performance data; maintain individual and group records
▪ Maintain a safe work site
▪ Complete all jobs in a quality manner, on-time, and within budget
Qualifications:
Candidates must have a mix of “hard” and “soft” skills that include the following:
▪ The equivalent of at least four years’ experience working in the fields of construction, janitorial, property maintenance, appliance recycling and sales, including at least two years of front-line supervisory experience
▪ A high school or high school equivalency diploma.
▪ The ability to supervise, coach and mentor workers.
▪ The ability to motivate workers, set priorities, and organize a productive workday.
▪ The ability to work with minimal, on-site supervision; to focus on detail, and finish a job on time.
▪ An understanding of the basic principles of customer service and of a customer driven business.
▪ A full understanding of and appreciation for safety in the workplace; a documented record of routinely operating safely on a job site.
▪ A valid Minnesota driver’s license with a driving record and insurance that meets the standards established by Better Futures.
